I am a former LAUSD special education teacher with over 10 years experience teaching students with IEPs, assesing students with IEPs, preparing and faciliting IEP meetings. I hold a current/valid Education Specialist credential. I know how IEPs work, how school districts/SELPAs work and can help to make sure you as the parent, understand what is going on with your child's IEP and services and can advocate for you during the IEP process to ensure your child is getting what he or she needs.
After seeing what happens on the school side of an IEP and meeting with countless parents, it is evident that very few parents know the federal and state laws governing IEPs and special education services, how districts/SELPAs interpret these laws and what should happen in an IEP. I have seen school districts try to take advantage of parents limited knowledge.
I am well versed in assessment interpretation, reading reports and the IEP document as well as the IEP meeting process. I offer the full spectrum of services from helping parents review and interpret IEP documents, discuss if an offer of FAPE is right for your child from a non interested party, attending and representing the student in IEP meetings and related meetings with school/SELPA personel, and assisting with Due Process needs.
I also have several years experience as a private IEP advocate. References are available. If you are a parent who just wants to know if your childs' IEP meets his or her needs or would like additional help in getting through the IEP process with the best for your child, please contact me and we can discuss your needs. 310-213-8289 or RyanBleecher@aol.com
